Like seeing descriptions of "bishounen" in Harry Potter fic *groans into palms*). It's so pathetic I can't possibly go over it all now, the list goes on with examples I could bring to light from actual canonically yaoi-oriented series.Īnd I should bring to point while I'm at it that there are even clear differences in yaoi from slash for live-action programs and movies, at least those written by non-yaoi fans anyway (too often I've seen the trademarks left on a slash fic by an obviously big time yaoi fangirl and writer of it. Or in Yami no Matsuei, with Tsuzuki frequently turning into an oh-so-"kawaii" puppydog version of himself to get his way or when he's afraid of something, or glomping someone, or just around tasty food. You see the characters of Gravitation? Observe the whiney, overly emotional cutesy purple-haired younger uke of the relationship who wears pink bunny ears and acts just like a stereotypical female shoujo manga character would. Stuff like how there's always heavy emphasis on the "seme/uke" relationship/sex dynamic in yaoi and shounen-ai, which ends up relegating these characters to one-dimensional stereotypes of gay men (or like straight women are often portrayed in anime and manga in their relationships with men *cough* but I won't go there right now, that's a larger issue) and *always* (I've yet to see examples of otherwise) ends up heavily emasculating them, feminizing them in often ridiculous ways. I've yet to see any *good* yaoi) and the basic principles of it, *canon* principles and common conventions that are followed in canon yaoi manga/anime as well as in works of the fans of it.

This is about *all yaoi in general* (or at least the larger majority of it. This isn't just about "some badly written yaoi fics" out there on the internet. I believe I am entitled, as much as you are to like your yaoi, to personally strongly dislike it and have a venue to express my peeves with it and its primary fanbase/surrounding subculture, both in Japan and worldwide. I have done my homework, you could say, and I'm really getting quite fed up with it all by this point. In case you hadn't guessed, I've read, watched, and been generally exposed to a great deal of the shounen-ai and yaoi genres, as well as its unhealthily overly *serious* subculture of *seriously devoted and overly obsessed* passionate young fangirls. In Japan, I'm sorry to say this but I've noticed that Japanese women only seem to see gay men as basically shoujo manga/anime (*coughMarySuecough*) heroines with a penis, or male (though definitely not "masculine" by any standards) versions of female characters in straight hentai who always are victimized and crying while they're raped by an aggressively assertive male. If anyone is familiar with yaoi, which I'm sure you all who are coming to its defense so passionately as if it were something really important to you must be, you will notice the *clear* (at times just laughably obvious) differences between it and gay romance and sex stories written in America or elsewhere by actual gay men who obviously have insight and know what they're talking about.

I will just say to all those who have been coming along and being so helpful as to "point out" to me that yaoi is just all about porn and getting women off so why target it and not porn in general, among other inane arguements, that this community isn't about bashing porn in general, gay straight or whatever persuasion (at least the basic "idea" of porn being get-off material for people who fancy it), it's about a specific *style* of romance and erotica that is unique to Japan and Japanese women called "yaoi".

First off I should note I've been away for a while so I haven't been keeping up with any of the communities I run, so sorry for the lateness of my follow-up to some comments from non-members of the group left in the previous thread, which I will try to address now.
